Augusti 2026: Meeting my ESCI colleagues & exploring change on a city scale

In August I kicked off the autumn with a team-building trip to Berlin, finally meeting my colleagues at ESCI – the European Science Communication Institute. Between that and squeezing the last out of summer with several excursions, I ended up with a serious case of idea overload. There were stories everywhere: how a former airport becomes something new, how changing geopolitics reframes an aircraft, and what happens to places when the people who made them attractive retire. Several of these observations could easily have become analyses of their own – but in this recap they have to share the stage.

January 2026: Why being back in EU projects feels good

January started with a new EU project — Sweden’s first hydrogen valley, bringing together 40+ partners over six years. I met my welcoming new colleagues from the European Science Communication Institute, discovered that hydrogen applications go far beyond transport, and found four occasions for champagne. A promising start to 2026.

November 2025: One of 72 volunteers making a church market happen

Sunshine, champagne and meeting lots of enthusiastic readers of my books. One of November’s highlights was volunteering at the Christmas market organised by the Swedish Church in Southern France. I was one of the 72 (!) volunteers – the photo is from the preparations before opening.
